For my learning project, I have decided to pursue sewing. I have absolutely zero experience for sewing, and have just recently hit a wave of passion in learning about it. i hope to go from having zero skill in sewing to making something, which is undecided as of now. i may try and make a set of oven mitts, or something along the lines of that. if i complete that goal very easily, i am going to move to something a little more difficult, such as a small blanket or a pillow. Something a little more difficult but still achievable. But before we get to any of that, i still have to learn how to string my machine and operate it in the first place.
Excited to see where this goes! I “learned” how to use a sewing machine in Grade 9 (I sucked at it). Hopefully you become a master, or at the very least, get a cool pair of oven mitts out of this experience!
Aiden! I’m so happy for you!
I grew up sewing, so it has always been a passion of mine. My recommendation would be to make sure you have a pattern before you start! Most projects that require any shape more than a sqaure are significantly easier with a pattern when you are first starting. Don’t worry though, there are lots of free ones online or tutorials on how to make one yourself.
Also, let me know if you are in need of any additional supplies as I have a fair amount laying around my house not being used.
Hi Aiden!
I learned sewing in high school. We started with printed pictures and had to follow the lines on those without thread to learn how to manage the machine. I believe that helped me so much to get familiar with the machine. This is such a fantastic skill, as I love being able to fix my clothes without having to wait for someone to do it for me. I am excited to see what you make!
