Hello everyone! It has been quite some time since I visited my e-portfolio; I am excited to re-visit it! I find it fascinating to look back on my old posts and to see how much has changed. I have had many changes in my life in the last four years. As of now, I am in my third year of elementary education! I am doing my weekly pre-internship on Wednesdays at Westmount Elementary School in Moose Jaw and so far I am loving it! It feels so surreal being called “Miss Sutton,” but it feels amazing! It is such a wonderful feeling knowing that I will be a teacher soon! All my hard work will pay off in the end. Since the last time I wrote on my blog, I was a cashier working at Walmart. Since then, I have left my job at Walmart and have had numerous other retail jobs following Walmart. Currently, I work part-time as a care provider for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Moose Jaw. I love this job and taking care of people. I can demonstrate my kindness and patience while working this job, which I can then transfer into my internships and future teaching job!
I have attached a link below for my “About Me” poster which tells more about myself! Thank you for reading 🙂
Hello to any fellow education students and anyone else checking out my blog! My name is Amie Sutton and I am nineteen years old. My hobbies include doing makeup, writing, singing, and playing video games. I am also a cashier at Wal-Mart and I work there on the weekends for about twelve hours a week. This allows me to have money for gas, money to put towards school and a little spending money. I was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. I still live in Moose Jaw to this day. I commute back and forth to and from my classes each day. This includes waking up at 5:30 am somedays or earlier to be at my KHS 139 class by 7:30 am! I did not even know that the university offered a class this early. I attended Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw and I graduated in June of 2017. I first attended university last fall and I was in the faculty of nursing. I left nursing after a semester because I realized it was not the career for me. I was not a fan of blood, needles or anything to do with biology. It was just hard for me to know what I wanted to do as a future career because absolutely everyone was asking me. I felt pressured to immediately know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. After all this thinking, I then remembered my dream of becoming a teacher. When I was accepted into the elementary education program, I felt like my dreams were finally coming true. It was such an amazing feeling! I began my journey in education by taking two classes online in the Spring and Summer. These two classes were Music 100 and ECS 110. ECS 110 has been my favourite class thus far because the information taught was very important for everyone to know. This common information includes major problems in society such as racism and having a lot of money. So far this first semester of education has been filled with many sleepy mornings and sleepy days. I am happy to say that I do not have to take a 7:30 am class in the Winter semester, but I do have to take a night class from 7:00pm-9:45 pm. I have never experienced a class this late before, so it will definitely be a new and different experience for me. What I know so far about education is that it requires much hard work and dedication. I constantly have to be focused on my studies and not let my mind wander elsewhere. Teaching is truly what I want to do as a career, so I have to put my studies first! I love being around young children because they are always filled with joy and they always make my day better. I am very excited about my journey through education and to finally call myself a teacher one day!
