    What’s next in the Learning Journey?

    This week I did a lot of my learning using an instagram account that I follow. Her name is Mckinnon Galloway. I actually found her account over a year ago, and her personal story plus her ASL teachings were the reason I decided to follow her. She was diagnosed in high school with an illness called NF2 (I learned that essentially these are tumors that grow on nerves throughout the body). The doctors found two brain tumors and she was told she would be deaf before she graduated high school.     Learning ASL Week 2

    This week I decided to use a website which is also an app called Pocket Sign to continue my learning in ASL. My main focus was learning the alphabet and how to finger spell my own name! This was surprisingly a lot easier than I had anticipated and I caught on to it relatively quickly. So I learned to sign my dog Willow’s name and my husband’s name as well. Which was also a great way to practice the different letters in the alphabet. I did find learning the alphabet was relatively easy and I did catch on pretty quickly.     Significant Role of Technology on the Daily

    I think that technology is a great resource for us to have at the tips of our fingers. I also see while there may be many pros about technology there are also many cons as well. Coming into this school year and being told by our admin that there will be a no phone policy in the classroom I was skeptical for many reasons. One of those reasons being is that, smart phones are not going anywhere, and completely eliminating the use won’t teach students how to work in a real world setting with a cell phone distraction.
