Hi! My name is Amaya Sanchuck and I am 19 years old. Currently, I am in my first year at the University of Regina in the Faculty of Education. I live with my mom, dad, sister, and dog. I have a few jobs, I serve at Earls, work as an Educational Assistant, and run lego programs for Bricks 4 Kidz. I play on three intramural sports teams, basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball. In the summer I play on a recreational slow-pitch team, and enjoy going for walks and hikes.
What inspired me to want to become a teacher is my time spent working as an Educational Assistant. I had the opportunity of receiving a contract in an elementary school for 6 months in 2022. I found it extremely fulfilling to work in a school environment where my job was to build relationships and support children as they learn. Although there were difficult days, I felt satisfied at the end of each day and felt that I was able to make a difference in the children’s lives. This experience is what motivated me to join the Faculty of Education, because I was constantly envisioning what my life would look like as a teacher.
