October 5, 2022 – First Day at Pre-Internship School
This semester was my first opportunity to gain experience from a classroom. I completed an eight week block at W.F Ready in Regina, being placed in a 6/7 classroom environment. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with my pre-internship partner, co-operating teacher, the students, and the school as a whole. Everybody was kind and beyond willing to help each other out to gain the most from this experience. For the first couple of weeks, my pre-internship partner and I co-taught. This was an opportunity for us to learn from each other. She truly taught me a lot, from lesson planning, teaching methods, and simply just learning to interact in an environment with students. We then faded into our own solo lesson, which involved taking on the task of completing a mini-unit. I did Diversity of Living Things and completed my eight weeks with a unit test. On the last day, we went sledding with the students, which will be a memory I will never forget. Seeing the students completely be themselves, laugh, and celebrate our last day was certainly a moment to cherish. My pre-intern teacher and I aligned very well on our beliefs and I am so thankful that he was able to help me on my journey to becoming an educator. This was an excellent first experience in this classroom and I cannot wait to venture to a high school for my three week block.
