Hi there! My name is Angelica.
I grew up as an only child in small town Saskatchewan and have been living in the province my whole life. It was only in 2019 that I moved to the capital city of Regina.
The school I attended was very small. We had an elementary school from Pre-K to Grade 6, and a high school from Grade 7 to Grade 12. I attended the same school for all of those years, and graduated with some peers I’d known since I was three years old. In early high school, I started to take part in Volleyball, Drama, and SADD (Students Against Drinking and Driving). I also took part in my local church as a lector and usher for many years.
I really enjoy the English language and the stories, poems, and art it can provide us with. I would love to be able to share the knowledge of English with others someday in the form of a high school teacher.
Becoming a teacher wasn’t my original career path. My love for creativity, art, and visuals made me want to continue with something Fine Arts related, such as film or photography. However, when I had to tutor younger students for my Physics class in high school, I received many comments from teachers and students insisting that I should enter Education. I was told that I had a way of explaining concepts and that I had skills that would make me a great teacher. When I first heard this, I valued the compliments, but really didn’t see teaching as part of my future. After a lot of time and thinking, I realized that it would be an amazing career path, and that maybe I was interested in becoming a teacher.
To this day, photography and videography are still some of my hobbies, along with drawing and art. I taught myself how to edit photos and videos, and also practiced drawing portraits. I enjoy being able to create, and make things my own. Anything in the realm of art is likely something I’ll enjoy!
I would love to be able to help students in every way possible, and make learning and the classroom a fun, welcoming environment for everyone.
This blog is a glimpse into my life as an Education student, and my pathway to becoming a teacher. I look forward to the journey, and am excited to see all that it entails!
