Introducing Me! Here We Go!

Hello! My name is Allard Ashanti Madridejos, but I prefer to be called Shan. My pronouns are he/him and they/them. I am from the Philippines and lived there until I was thirteen years old and moved to Canada in January of 2016. My family lives just over an hour southeast of Regina, but now, I live in Regina attending the University of Regina. I started my university career in Fall 2021 in a different program called Creative Technologies (CTech). In Fall 2023, I decided my learning needed a change. I found CTech classes to be easy, so I decided to change to a program where I will constantly be challenged. Now, I am in the Bachelor in Secondary Education program with a major in mathematics and a minor in general science.

I have been using educational technologies for my studies for as long as I can remember, so I can say that I have a lot of experiences with it. In my elementary days, we used a website and an app called “Kahoot”, which is an app where you can input your own questions and quiz other people on the topic of your choice. Gamification also comes into play with Kahoot as whoever answers the correct answer the fastest will get first place. The video chat feature on Microsoft Teams was used in my high school for online classes during the peak of COVID-19, while Zoom is used in my online university classes. There are many more educational technologies that I have used, and there may be more that I will use in the future, as well. I find educational technologies helpful in classes since not everyone learns the same way. Educational technologies can accommodate a student’s way of learning by using apps like Kahoot or videos recorded from zoom.

In regards to blogging, I do not mind it. A fun fact about me is I like to write stories. I am currently in the process of producing dynamic characters and brainstorming a plot for a novel that I am planning to write. To me, blogging is very similar to writing stories. The only difference is that blogs are like online diaries. In blogs, you write about facts about certain topics or personal experiences from your life, while in novels, you can write whatever you want (in a way that it does not offend anyone).
