I edited transitions between the clips in the scream edit I made last week or so, this is the result.
I added another clip to when the lyrics are “get that feelin'” to make it flow better.
I tried to use the pre-programmed transitions, but hated them so much I only used one for the whole edit (the heart transition when the lyrics are “Got my homies here and that’s fuckin’ bitchin'”).
I hate the freeze framing that the pre-programmed transitions do. I tried a few solutions and I still don’t know how to fix that. What it is programmed to do is to take the frame directly after the clip ends on both the clips. It would make sense to do this for the first clip, but the program should steal the frame from directly before the second clip if it is going to steal extra frames. What would make even more sense would be to not freeze it at all, but instead let the clips play as they are shifted–this can obviously be programmed, since it is easier than taking a freeze-frame when the transition is edited manually. //this aspect of editing transitions annoyed me so much that I ended up just manually editing all the transitions, mimicking the pre-programmed ones//. The freeze frames made the edit feel so disjointed. Googling solutions to the freeze framing was unfruitful.
Timing is important to having the edit look good–more important than I’d prefer it to be, since I am lazy. The beginning transitions ended up slightly off-beat anyhow, which is frustrating.
This edit alone has taken me 15 hours already. 🙂
I plan on editing text transitions later.
