Against Common Sense
At the beginning of the article, we hear about students who are only sometimes on task or those who question your teaching methods and content. Typically we would not see these students as being well-behaved or good. This is the opposite in the article as it says the good is not in the idea of behaviour, but rather the good is that they ask questions and explore.
The privileged students are the ones who are learning different opinions and different experiences because of the way they have been brought up. Our families and communities influence us. The students with similar backgrounds and experiences do not have the experience and possible crises as their peers.
The good students are shaped by their own historical experiences. These historical experiences include race, religion, family, language, or immigration. As a result, these students have different life views and have learned other opinions, facts and experienced crises.

I agree that privileged students are those who were “brought up” differently in the way they were raised from opinions and experiences. When we talk about students who are off task while others follow certain teaching models, why would we not see these students who are off task as well-behaved? Maybe discipline was not set right at home or they are struggling with a disability. It is important to think of these things as to why students act so differently towards each other. Although, students have the opportunity to learn others’ worldview and experiences in a classroom setting. It is true how every student is a “good” student because of their historical background from experiences due to their culture, religion, and language.
