Journey Towards Truth and Reconciliation

For my aesthetic representation, I decided to make dream catchers. I really wanted to represent an Indigenous practice that went back hundreds of years. The dream catcher is so special and I really connected with the meaning behind it. I love how it was created as a form of protection.

Dream Catchers originated from Ojibwa Culture, but over time they were passed down and adopted by many other cultures and tribes. 

Dream catchers are supposed to be placed above or near a bed so the feathers and beads can protect you while you sleep. All the bad dreams, evil spirits or illness will get caught in the web, and in the morning, the sun rays are supposed to get rid of the negative energy or bad dreams.

Throughout this class and everything I have learned so far this semester, my biggest take away is that my journey is only just beginning. This semester has really made me realize that I have a lot more learning to do, and that most of my knowledge was just surface level
