As an educator, I have always strived to create a conducive learning environment where students actively and emotionally engage in the learning process, rather than bestowing my knowledge upon them. This method is based on the concept of student-centeredness, Inquiry-based learning, which in my opinion, is closely related to the constructivist principles.
In my practice as a teacher, I treat my students with respect, just the same way I treat other people. Today’s students are different from the time when I was a student. They have a different experiential skill set, educational background, and frequently face more challenging issues than I did as a student. This understanding has enabled me to continually remind myself of the importance of understanding my students’ interest and needs in order to provide them with quality learning opportunities. Â
