To begin with, I want to express my thoughts about this assignment, like this one. I got a chance to learn and explore more about the Open Education Resources, which I believe is more beneficial for both educators and students. To be honest, in my academic journey, I didn’t experience such kinds of educational resources. I remember when I was preparing for competitive exams in my country, I always used YouTube or Google to find study materials for specific subjects that would become in my test. In which I had to face a lot of difficulties. Such as, paid resources, insufficient study materials and many more. I believe that open education resources make learning affordable, easy and beneficial for learners and educators.
What is the meaning of OER?
Open Educational Resources are becoming more in demand in this modern world. It provides teachers and learners with free, high- quality, and updated educational resources such as, textbooks, lesson plans, assignments, tools, and many more that help them expand their knowledge.
After class discussion, I just explore different OER that our professor already provides in our weekly plans. Where I explore C- 12 Foundation open educational resources platform. Which I found easier to access, and it offers a vast collection of textbooks, flex books, and practice material in different subjects.
Easy to use and organized.
The homepage of CK-12 Foundation is designed with a clear and clear layout for easy use. The platform allows users to easily find categories and grade levels that educators and students want to get study material. Which I think makes the clean, clear, and easy to use layout more attractive to users. Because educators and learners can easily access their study materials.
Resources.
C- 12 Foundation provides high- quality, standard- aligned educational materials in different subjects. One feature that is surprising is to translate material in different materials, so users can read study material in their native language. Being an international student, sometimes when I faced problems in understanding some concepts or topics in English, I used Google translate and converted them into my mother language for better understanding. Which helps me clear my doubts. If such a kind of facility can users get in any OER, it makes learning more understandable, interesting, productive, and meaningful.
Navigation and Search.
CK-12 provide easy navigation and search functions that allow the educators and learners can find study material. The first time I tried to use this platform, I could easily search all the material that I could find. So, that means anyone can use this platform easily.
Visual Appeal
Ck-12 uses an advanced visual design with high-quality graphics and videos. The platform is well- maintained, with clear and bold headings that make navigation and searching easy.
Value for Educators.
Ck-12 is more valuable for teachers, especially for educators who teach STEM subjects. It provides free study materials, practice materials, and videos that provide an interactive and engaging learning experience.
Conclusion.
Overall, my experience with the CK-12 OER is smooth. I think it is a powerful learning tool that can easily be used and provide updated and high-quality educational material for educators and learners.
