From wraps to just a salad and using QuickTime player to edit my GoPro footage (#3)

Firstly man is everyone sick including myself so I couldn’t finish all my pasta salad last week and was craving some wraps, but sadly failed at that so I made another salad. I will do another mid-week meal prep because I only made servings for two days this time. I decided to throw my GoPro on this time and record my meal prep, then used QuickTime player because IMovies needed my MacBook to be updated but I just didn’t want to do that until later tonight.

On QuickTime, my original idea was to trim my clips and upload and edit them on YouTube, but I realized QuickTime has a lot more than just trimming and watching the videos. I found a neat little “split” function which was fun to play around with. I shortened my video to 2 minutes instead of the 20 minutes it took me. I also used remove audio because it was loud in the background, and Trim. You can also directly trim videos after splitting them. Other things you can do while splitting is delete and move the positioning. I just honestly had no idea that you can do so much on QuickTime, I assumed most of these creation and editing tools were limited to other apps.

QuickTime player can be used to show step-by-step tutorials and make them short enough to quickly upload. In regards to the SAMR model I believe this is how it would fit in each category:

  • Substitution: Watching a recorded video/lesson
  • Augmentation: QuickTime can be used as a screen recording tool to quickly make a tutorial or a lesson.
  • Modification: We can make recordings of many things like reviewing, researching or reflecting and share them after a quick edit.
  • Redefinition: Make an educational video which can be shared with others and after hearing opinions, we can add more to the video and reshare it. Using QuickTime to basically document which can be shared with students.

I have attached my video of the meal prep below, my editing skills can use some work too. I also added music but it’ll be awhile before that’s added to the video, blame youtube.
