EDTC 300

Introduction to Me, EDTC, and Blogging

Hey, I’m Branden, and I am in my second year of secondary education.  I am from Weyburn which is a small city located about an hour southeast of Regina, and upon graduation, I plan on sticking around the Weyburn area. My girlfriend and I actually bought a house in town last week.  We are set to move in during the first week of March.  We have been living with her parents for the last couple of years so it will be nice to finally have our own space.  It has been quite the journey to get to where I am today. After graduating high school, I wanted to avoid the debt of university so I decided to go the trade school route.  I spent about 3 years working in the oil and gas industry and the trades before I decided that I wanted to return to university.  It is not the most conventional route but because of it, I am a lot more financially stable and a lot more mature than if I had jumped into university right after high school.  In my spare time, I like going to the gym, playing video games, and watching/playing hockey. I am a big Calgary Flames fan. I am also a big dog lover. I am super excited because now that we have our own place, I can fulfill my dream of finally owning a golden retriever.

Besides the blogging I have done for previous education classes, I do not have much experience with blogging.  And if it was not for my education classes I do not think I would have ever started blogging.  It is not the tech aspect that makes me hesitant to blog.  I am not someone that typically likes to open up and share my thoughts and feelings—especially online.  Prior to this class, I did not have Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Instagram, etc., and I generally tried to keep a low profile online.  Throughout this course, I will have to work on breaking out of my shell when it comes to online media and establishing an online presence.  I do definitely see the benefits of blogging and establishing a professional online presence.  It is just something I will have to get used to and become more comfortable with as the semester goes on. Here is the link to my Twitter!  I haven’t started tweeting yet but I am sure that will change relatively soon. Thanks for reading!
