I want to acknowledge that I am on the traditional land of treaty 4 territory, the land of the Cree, Ojibwe, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota, Lakota, and on the homeland of the Métis peoples. I want to acknowledge their spiritual and holistic connection to the land and all of the natural world. I want to honor the Indigenous peoples and their ancestors by acknowledging the mistreatment of the past starting with colonialism. I want to work together to educate on the truth of the past, the different ways of knowing and doing, and working towards a more place-based education. I want to work with Indigenous peoples to decolonize the education system and move forward towards reconciliation.
