My teaching philosophy of education is that all children have great potential. It is my journey to create an atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks. I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls. I believe education isn’t something that can be tested with tests or report cards but is instead it’s how people grow after receiving the information given to them. I believe education sets you up for life and by using the skills you have learned in school you can be successful in your life. I believe the classroom should be a safe and inclusive area for all students to be able to feel safe and explore their learning further. As a teacher, I strongly believe and will embrace Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development as a key pedagogical tool to ensure all students are taught content that can be learned successfully. I believe in outdoor education, as I think it is extremely important to leave the classroom and have students really be in nature and learn about the environment while actually being in it, outdoor education is also very important physically for students as sitting at a desk all day does not promote learning, however, getting up and moving outside would help students be more hands-on and grasp the learning easier. I believe it’s important for parents to be involved in the students learning so I will invite parents into my classrooms so they can feel that they are a partner in their child’s learning experience. I believe it’s also to have a parent’s teacher relationship and I will set myself goals to connect all parents throughout the school term to listen to them and learn from their deep knowledge of their own children.

My job as the teacher will be to assist each child in developing their own potential and learning styles. I will present a curriculum that will incorporate each different learning style, as well as make the content relevant to the students I will incorporate hands-on learning, cooperative learning, projects, themes, and individual work that engage and activate students learning. My classrooms will always be focused on the specific needs of my students. I will try to adjust the learning so that each student’s skills are emphasized. In terms of my ideal classroom, my classroom environment will be student-centered. I will strive to make learning scenarios where students are making meaningful conversations with other students with facilitating as needed to help the discussion. As a teacher I think about how I want my future children to be taught, I would hope their teacher would help them facilitate ways to be successful in their learning experience, so as a teacher I will allow instructional time where I explain the material in many ways for all different learning styles and or offer other material, they would allow the same learning outcome that still would fit the curriculum and help the student be successful. When it comes to thinking about if I am being an efficient teacher, I will know I am being an efficient teacher when I see my students being successful in learning and wanting to learn, and engaging in meaningful interactions and discussions.

Teaching is a process of learning from your students, colleagues, parents, and the community. This is a lifelong process where you learn new strategies, new ideas, and new philosophies. Over time, my educational philosophy may change, and that’s okay. That just means that I have grown and learned new things.
