Prepare, Prepare, Prepare pt.5 – Plating

This is my last post to prepare for my final challenge of making Portugese chicken. I have covered and learned a lot about the proper knife skills, spatchcocking, keeping the kitchen clean before and after I cook, what makes a proper marinade and now I am on to how to plate my creation. Plating is what I would call the cherry on top of cooking a good meal. I have different experiences with plating from buffet style where I just pile everything up to eating an eloquent meal at a fancy restaurant where my meal looks like an art piece. Besides having other people make a fancy plate, I have never actually tried to do it myself so I need some tips. Like always, I am heading to YouTube to find some videos that will help me in my learning.

This was a simple upbeat video that provided some information on how to properly plate a meal. All of the dishes do look beautiful thoguh. I did like the video it self so I am looking again for another video that provides some more information.

This video provided more information on how to make beautiful foods at home and was more helpful than the previous one. I found it to be kind of hard to understand though jsut because I am not the most artisitc person in the world. I know that he said anyone will be able to do these things but I am really doubting my ability with this one.

Despite not feeling gresat about the plating, I think I am feeling more prepared for my final cooking challenge now that I took the time to educate myself on different areas that I thought would help me for this. Its amazing what a little bit of prepartion can do for a persons confidence, I am not over confident like I was in posts previous but I feel like the right amount of confidence that believes I will be able to execute this excellently!
