One of the biggest ways I learned this semester was through being able to communicate with my classmates on our blogs and through Discord. It truly created a classroom community, which is extremely important, especially in online classes because we don’t have that face to face connection. The main way that I was engaging in my classmates learning was through commenting on their blog posts. I made it my goal to comment on about 3-4 posts per week. I know how much I love reading everyone’s comments on mine, I wanted to give that back. Here are a few examples:
In addition to commenting on my peers blog posts, I also made sure that I always provided links to my resources, specifically in my learning project, in case anyone wanted to use them. The thing that was amazing with my recipes is that none of them were too complex and any skill level would most likely be able to make them. One specific resource that I provided in my weekly blog post was Super Teacher Worksheets. I mentioned how much I loved using it during my internship, especially in math, as it can generate personalized worksheets for you. I wanted to share it because it had helped me out a lot and I knew it could do the same for others. Based on the comments, quite a few of my classmates had never heard of it and are going to try it out!
I believe that it is super important that you are contributing to the learning of others. Teaching is a job that is extremely difficult to do alone. Just with this class alone, I feel like I have compiled so many ideas and resources that I can use in the future. I hope I helped out my fellow classmates because I know that they sure did for me!
