Swatching, Social Media & Valentine’s Day Nail Prep
Hey everyone!
So, I didn’t do a new set of nails this week because I am waiting for my sparkles nails to grow out a little. But I still made some progress! My original gel polish kit came with over 50 colours, so I took the time to swatch them all. Seeing all the shades together made me even more excited to experiment.
After checking out the colors, I decided that I will definitely being doing a light pink nail for my next set – just in time for Valentine’s Day! I have found tutorials on how to use a magnet and magnetic polish for a look called “cat eye”. This tutorial shows you how to do a bunch of different magnet technique, but I found this tutorial the most helpful for what I was looking for. I have been practicing spare swatches. Check out my progress!
This week, I plan to find some more “nail inspo” to save for the future. At first glance, I think I will enjoy Nails by Zola because it appears that she has lots of tutorials for trendy/minimalist nails! 😊 💅
This is a fun idea, and a good way to save money! I have found that since I have had kids my extra money has been going to them, so I haven’t done this kind of personal care spending for a while. Learning how to do it at home would definitely be cheaper 🙂
Thanks, Danine! I am really enjoying learning and practicing this skill. I don’t know if I would have otherwise, but I am happy for this assignment! I will be saving a ton of money and it is fun to tap into my more creative side. I’d definitely recommend trying it out 🙂
As someone who knows ZERO about nails, I find this fascinating. Following the link you shared for the gel nail polish kit….my mind is blown. I can’t believe how cheap it is! When I consider how much a pedicure costs me in the summer, this is so much cheaper. Is that pretty standard for these kits? Is this a good, quality kit…or can you tell the difference?
I don’t know if I would be able to speak on the quality because I don’t know much about ingredients and such, BUT I honestly can’t tell the difference at all! When I ordered the kit, I thought “Hey, worst comes to worst – it’ll pay for itself after one or two sets.”
So it’s already paid for itself and I’ll get so many more uses out of it! 🙂
well done Burns, this is absolutely incredible, following your blog is a way of learning to me too because I am getting to know a lot of hacks in nails.
keep it up!
Thank you! It’s been such a blast! I am excited to do my next set. I’ll post a blog about them for you and everyone to see 🙂
I don’t have an interest in makeup and nail art, but after following your blog, I think I might try it. Maybe my hands will look good,
