Project Update – Goal Achieved! Time For a New One…

It has been six weeks since I began my journey, with a goal of losing 8-10lbs. As of Monday morning my weight has decreased from 194.1lbs to 183.7lbs. This is a loss of 10.4 lbs. I am definitely celebrating this success, but have my sights set on a new goal…

While I can notice some changes in my body, I am still not where I want to be with physical appearance. In reality, I know physical appearance is not the most important indicator of health…how I feel, move, eat, reduced body fat %…are much more important. Buuut, part of the reason I embarked on this journey was to look better as well.

So with that in mind, I have set a new weight loss goal. I would like to get down to 178lbs before Christmas. I am also more focused on decreasing body fat % as opposed to just losing weight.

My weight loss has slowed slightly over the past couple weeks. Part of this is because I had some type of bug over the last week that caused me to miss my workouts for almost a week. My body just didn’t have the energy to work out. Therefore, I lost some significant caloric expenditure. I also started eating more, knowing that the caloric deficit I was experiencing wasn’t sustainable. I need to start fueling my body and adapting my workouts to target body fat loss.

I have accepted the fact that I will never be Mr. Muscles. I also realize that I am fairly healthy and am at a healthy weight. At this point I am doing some fine tuning and doing my best to avoid a Dad bod. Hopefully with some more hard work over the next 5-6 weeks I will see some of the physical changes I am hoping for….just in time for Christmas turkey!

  1. Hey Chris – Congrats on hitting your first goal weight, thats awesome! I commend you dedication and commitment to you fitness journey. I am currently trying to bounce back after some time away from the gym due to mental fatigue that goes along with working out. I often to find myself worrying more about the number on the scale to measure success, but I have learned to notice how I am feeling, moving and how my clothes fit as progress too. Thanks for sharing your journey!

  2. That is awesome. This is something I have been working at too and it isn’t easy! Way to go! I agree with Bret that the numbers on the scale aren’t always the best indicator for success especially when it comes to losing fat but gaining muscle. I have been following a local friend that runs a program called Optimal Nutrition. You can find her on instagram. Check it out. She has so many great recipes that are yummy and healthy! Keep up the great work!

  3. Great work! Weight loss can slow down, especially when life happens, but it doesn’t mean your progress so far was for nothing! Getting back into it as soon as you can is key! I’ve been struggling with the eating portion of my learning project and it’s been a bit disappointing. I think I need to do more research so I can find out which way of healthy eating works best for me! ( calorie counting, intuitive eating, eating at specific times). I will also have to learn how to run in the snow! Brr! You’re doing great things! Congrats!

  4. WOW! Congrats on hitting your first goal. Six weeks is usually the timeline they say for something to become a habit. You have hit that mark and have set new goals. What an amazing journey to follow. Even though you may not feel 100% amazing after hitting your first goal, you have accomplished so much. This is not an easy journey, and you seem to be breezing through. Keep up the great work! This is definitely inspiring!
