Podcast Journey – Week 4 – Plan generator
So, after a week filled with production questions, we have finally arrived at the question: Is this a viable podcast idea?
Not going to lie, I have been quite excited about this week’s adventure. Not only have I built this whole concept, but now I get to see if it was worth all the brainstorming and provocative thought processes.
So, lets start with the AI Showplanner and what it has told me.
First, you need to input a lot of information into the AI plan generator. The program tells you that it should only take 15 minutes to complete. It makes you answer a series of questions about the podcast you are planning to put together. If we look at the image below, it seems relatively straight forward. It seems like you are answering 6 questions, and you are then on your way to start your podcast.
However, it is not the case. The first step “Capture your idea” is a series of prompts that help you work out important concepts. If you work through this first concept, you are answering 7 questions regarding your idea, topics, format, audience, purpose, and the unique perspective you bring to the table.
After you have thoughtfully answered the questions, the program then moves on to choosing a name. You can provide one that you have already created, or use the name generator the AI has built into this program. After you have done all of these steps, the program then generates a report giving feedback, episode ideas, ideas to make your podcast unique, and your ideal audience profile. Overall, it seems like a solid program to help beginner podcasters create their brand, and have a starting point to jump off from.
Now, the critical literacy lover that I am needed to see if this program would just shell out the same information for each podcast typed into the AI. It is great that this program exists, but is it as helpful as it seems?
I went through the whole process again, but put no information in any of the text boxes. It did not come out with the same plan that I received when I put in my podcast ideas. It came out a positive report that included a plan for a very open ended podcast, and places that would be interesting to start off exploring.
However, this is not the only way to create the outline for your podcast. As helpful as AI can be, it can’t replace human reaction and experience. Youtube has a lot of helpful videos about creating your podcast and how to get it on streaming services. Next post, I will compare these Youtube videos with the AI program and give my thoughts on which is more helpful.
Hi Sheila, I’ve been waiting to hear how the AI Showplanner would work for you. I can see how it would help structure a podcast while still providing space for personal creativity. I do love the ease that AI tools provide, but you were right to test its viability in this regard. Nothing replaces human insight. I look forward to your comparison of YouTube tutorials.
Hi Sheila,
Thanks so much for sharing! Very interesting to see how this could help with the planning process and structure of a podcast. Did you like how it provided you with the open-ended podcast option? Or do you prefer a more specific outline?
