My Learning Journey – Contributions and all
I feel this class was a turning point for me. I have always been a quiet participant in all of my previous classes. This class, however, I believe I found my voice. Not only did I learn from from others in class discussions and blogs, but I finally began to share my thoughts and knowledge during class. This became a learning lesson for me, because I not only had to vocalize what I knew, but I also began having discussions with others -diving more in depth or discussing their knowledge on the subject. Class discussions became more rewarding and pertinent.
I also became more active with the blogging comments. I began to respond to others when they had comments or questions. It gave me more feedback, new avenues to research, and connection with others. I found a kind of comradery with those who commented frequently. We shared our viewpoints and thoughts on important topics.
One thing I did not expect was the number of programs and platforms that I knew nothing about. So many of the teachers in this class had used a variety of programs I have never heard of in their classes. I was thrilled and took down a number of notes regarding these platforms. The next few years look to be quite innovative in my classroom when I return.
Some of the programs I learned about:
- School ai
- Powtoon
- We Will Write (This was my favourite)
- H5P
- Lumi
- LTX
- Stop Motion Studio (Another one I am excited to try with my students)
- Animoto
I tried to comment on Discord as much as I could. However, I didn’t want to add just for adding’s sake. I wanted to add useful resources that I was sure no one had used before (unlike the usual WriteReader, Flip, etc). As you have kind of guessed, I didn’t have much to add to the conversation. I did my best to add, and learned everything I could.
I have compiled a presentation exemplifying my contributions to others learning, and their contributions to mine. Thank you to everyone for sharing, adding to the conversations, and being open to conversation.
