Educational Philosophy

My philosophy of education is that every child is capable of learning given the right opportunities. Every child deserves to feel a sense of belonging. My philosophy of teaching means being a constant in a student’s life. What I mean by a constant is being someone who is always there, who is calm, kind, supportive, and who creates a safe space. I might only be with the students for a year, but I can be that reliable constant during that time.

My ideal elementary classroom environment is a space that I’ve created with every student in mind, a space where every student can see themselves represented in a positive way. My ideal classroom would be a space where I can be adaptable and flexible with the furniture to meet the needs of every student while still focusing on it being a learning environment. As a teacher I feel it is my responsibility to make the environment and space for the students and not for myself. I believe it is important to be adaptable and flexible with how I teach, so that I can best teach every student and meet their needs.

As a teacher my mains goals are to learn who my students are. I can do this by building relationships with my students, their parents, and my administration. By creating these relationships I can learn what my students are going through, their interests, their preferred learning styles, and what they need to thrive in the classroom. Another one of my goals is building trust, I believe without trust no learning happens. I can build trust overtime by fostering my relationships with the students and parents.

I believe

  • Every child is capable of learning.
  • That the “hard to teach or trouble” students aren’t bad, that they are most likely carrying baggage and stress that is not necessarily their own. These children need our unconditional love and support.
  • Every child has the right to proper nutrition and education.
  • I believe as an educator I have the responsibility to support every child achieve their fullest potential in not only achieving grade level requirements but also in emotional, spiritual, and social skills and growth.
  • That as an educator you are to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
  • As an educator our responsibility is to the students, it is our responsibility to care for their best interests while meeting the curricular outcomes.
  • I believe it is my responsibility to continue to learn, work on my professional development and expand my knowledge so I can effectively and to my best ability teach the students.
