In this video, I reflect on my learning journey through ECI 831. I explored the complex impacts of social media, technology, and digital tools in education. I began by examining my own experiences with platforms like Facebook and TikTok and considered the concerns raised in The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. Documentaries, like The Sextortion of Amanda Todd and The Social Dilemma helped me understand digital harm and the responsibility schools have in responding.
I wrestled with the idea of cell phone bans and came to see that while tech limits are important, we must also integrate digital literacy into our classrooms. I explored participatory culture and the concept of remixing through Everything is a Remix. This helped me realize how much creativity and teaching rely on adapting existing content. I evaluated educational tools like Khan Academy and ChatGPT, used online forums like Reddit, and engaged in video creation using Canva, YouTube, and TikTok.
My learning was shaped not only by these resources but also by blogs, YouTube videos, articles, and the thoughtful discussions shared by my classmates throughout the course.
I used ChatGPT to help guide my video creation process, and Canva provided the web that represents my brain. Also here is a bonus! I used Suno to make my script for this video into a song, so check out this link if you would rather have a Fall Out Boy version of my learning instead: My learning – Alternative Rock Style
