This week, I put more focus on a social media platform I wrote about in a previous blog post that enables us to see other peoples ideas/examples/boards. The app I am speaking about is Pinterest. Pinterest is an online platform where people can post ideas, articles, examples of work they have done or they are wanting to complete. Pinterest is described as, “a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more (All about Pinterest). Pinterest can be used for everyday things including in a classroom. In this post I will give examples of how I will use Pinterest for my Learning Project but as well as in the classroom.
Withing the Pinterest platform there is a search bar where you can search up whatever it is you are looking for. After you have completed your search, you will view a page of different posts or articles people, companies, marketing agencies, etc. have uploaded to the platform. In the picture I searched up Kitchen Renos in the search bar at the top. The screen shot is a result of what came
from this search. In the app when you search the options you have to choose from are also referred to as Pins.
Once you have found the pins you are looking for, you can open them up and read the articles. If you like the articles you can create a pin board. There are a collection of the articles you saved. You can create multiple boards for different topics. For example I have created a pin board for my Home Reno Learning Project (Home Renos Board). Within this board I have saved pins such as, Best Kitchen Island Ideas, Countertop Pro’s and Con’s of Different Materials, etc. These boards are nice for the fact you can save and go back for reference later.
Pinterest is a great platform for teachers and in the classroom for sharing and gathering ideas. Within Pinterest there is a large number of teachers and education professionals who have posted lesson plans, art projects, tips and tricks for in the classroom, along with a lot more. This comes in very handy if you are struggling with an idea or you need some assistance withing the classroom, Pinterest is a network of information and a great tool to use.
Oh my goodness, I too am a big Pinterest user. However unlike you, this is where all of my great home renovations ideas go to die haha! I can’t wait to see your next project!!
I love Pinterest! It is such a fun app that has so many helpful tips and ideas on it. I have been using it for yearssssss! I can’t wait to see if you use a Pinterest post as inspiration for your next home reno project!
