I think I was outsmarted this week!!
Normally here I would make a facetious comment like, “That isn’t to difficult.”, however considering this is blog post for a university class I probably should refrain from these types of sarcastic comments.
I think my computer outsmarted me, for this post I wanted to build upon the previous post by delving a little deeper into the colors for my kitchen. This week I decided to use the image of the kitchen colors in my previous post , upload them to an AI generator and have them create a photorealistic image of my kitchen. I had a very difficult time finding an AI program what would take this image and generate this image into a realistic one.
First, I tried to use Adobe Express for Education. I found this program difficult to maneuver. I was unable to convert my photo into a realistic one. Every time I would click the generate button all it was allowing me to do was change the hues, backlight, sharpness. This seemed more of a photo editor then a generative AI program.
Magic School AI was the second program I used. Unfortunately, I had the same complication from Adobe Express for Education. I was able to upload the image however, I was unable to create the image into a photorealistic image.
Finally, I found a program online (after a extensive google search for a photo AI program that will convert images into photorealistic) I found a program called GETIMG.AI. Using this program, I was able to upload the image I wanted, there was an image to image reference button in the dropdown menu on the left side of the screen. With this I was able to upload my image and decide how much of this image I wanted to reference.
I ended up using this program and converting my blueprint of my kitchen into a photorealistic image. Now some of the observations I’ve made when attempting to convert the image; it took me about 9 or 10 times playing around with the settings before I was able to get a actual photorealistic image. My first few attempts were the same image I uploaded with subtle changes in the colors and even took out some line.
Eventually, I was able to get a somewhat photo realistic image out of my blueprint. Now, knowing Generative AI isn’t perfect and my final product for this post isn’t perfect either. Being a person who is somewhat of a perfectionist as soon as I received the image I was picking it apart with the differences. I took a minute to clear my head and decided I needed to look at this through a different lens and look for the similarities rather then the differences.
This was my final product.
If you take a look the positioning of the fridge and the oven, they are in the accurate positions. The generated picture has all the same cupboards as my image as well the window is in the correct spot. The AI generated image included the island, however it is not in the right place. The island is too close to the wall with the window and the actual island is more so parallel to the fridge.
So as much as I said I was outsmarted, I think I got the last laugh.
