Well, this has been an interesting journey. When we were introduced to the Learning Project assignment I was absolutely pumped. I love the fact that this was an assignment/project we got to decide our topic, what we are doing, how we are going to do it. Throughout university I have not had a project similar to this.
When I was introduced to this assignment I immediately started to work on it. I think it was 4 or 5 days later and I had the blueprint for my assignment done. I started to obsess over this assignment and was fixated on it. I wanted to get it done as fast as I can because I love doing tasks like this. The other things about this assignment was, finding time to work on the assignment. I know this is university and it is very important, however we all have our own lives and are busy in our own ways.
During this project I ended up using a lot of applications that I have never used before. First, I created my blueprint on an app called SketchUp. This was the blue print app I used to create my initial kitchen remodel. As I talked about in a previous post this was a fairly simple program to use if you have any experience with this kind of work.
Second, I wanted to work on what the inside of the kitchen is going to look like. I used Pinterest to look at some of the interior decorating I wanted in my kitchen. During this I looked at different types of countertops, styles of cupboards, etc. I used this app as more a designing the interior.
I also used a screen recording app for a previous post. I used the app ScreenCastify app for a update video I made to show the progress of my assignment.
I wanted to add some color to my blueprints to give the cupboards and countertops the desired color. There were many application I could have used to give my blue prints color. I figured paint brand app’s and website would have legitimacy to them. I ended up using HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams app to give my blueprints some life and color.
Lastly, I used an AI program to bring my Kitchen Reno to life. I found an app called GETIMG.AI and found this to be simple to use. For this I didn’t want an animated image, I wanted a photorealistic image of my kitchen. This application did a great job of this. I was able to upload my image and have the AI generate my blueprints into a real image.
This was a fun project. I was able to learn and use many new applications to me. There were some application I was introduced to that I for sure would be able to use in the classroom as well. I hope there will be more project like this in my future, whether its for university or if its just for fun.
