Let me introduce myself, Im Dan Santha and I live in Regina, Saskatchewan with my two children. I am currently working on a continuing contract with Fort Qu’Appelle Elementary school as a Student Supporty Teacher. Previous to this year I was a classroom teacher in Fort teaching a grade 5/6 split class. Throughout the 2022/ 2023 school year I taught Social, Science, ELA, and Career Ed, to a grade 6/7 split class also at Fort Qu’Appelle Elementary school. Before this, I split time between Fort Qu’Appelle Elementary School and Bert Fox Community High School. For the 2 previous years I was a grade 7 and 9 teacher at Indian Head High School and grade 5 and 6 at Indian Head Elementary School.
Prior to starting in the teaching profession, I was employed at Ranch Ehrlo Society for 15 years as both a Youth Care Worker and Youth Care Leader. As a Youth Care Worker, I work with at-risk youths with varying individual needs. In these roles I have assisted children with daily life skills, taught coping strategies, along with planning and facilitating daily and evening activities. I have received excellent training and skill development to enable me to effectively deal with most at risk behavior situations. Throughout my career I have taken youth on several summer camping trips where I was responsible for budgeting, planning, shopping, and facilitating the youth during these one and two- week trips.
I live a balanced lifestyle which includes competitively playing 4-wall handball, and senior men’s baseball as well. I have volunteered my time to coach youth in several sports including football, baseball, and 4-wall handball. I enjoy the challenge and fulfillment of working with youth and would be interested in continuing to coach in the school system.
Throughout my experience working and coaching I have developed a valuable set of skills that transfer directly into the classroom, these include: a growth mindset, patience, communication, teamwork, adaptive dimensioning, and relationship building
