During my experience in elementary, high school, and university I have been influenced by lots of teachers. Some of which were trying to get me to perform better academically, others who were trying to find strengths which I already possessed. Others were trying to broaden my horizon and help me find attributes and strengths that I had but didn’t know. These are all very important characteristics in my opinion when becoming a teacher. I believe teaching is a very important occupation, helping to mold the minds of our future generations.
A teacher needs to be able to help students grow academically and achieve knowledge and grades to the best of their ability, but also a teacher needs to be able to explore the various types of way to bring out the personality, creativity, and uniqueness in their students. Teachers need to be knowledgeable and inspiring to their students. The more unique the teacher is better chance students will be inspired by what you are teaching. When being an educator one of the important factors of helping to mold the minds of our students is by teaching our students social and ethical morals. Helping to teach right versus wrong and for people to be unique.
A quote that was said to me by my grade 7 teacher that I will never forget is, “Don’t be afraid to be weird, being weird is good, if you are weird you are unique and no one else is like you.”
