Intro to EdTech

Introducing me!

Hello and welcome to my first blog post for Educational Technology; I am so excited to partake in this educational journey with everyone. If you missed my “About Me” page, my name is Delaney Epp, and I am in between my third and fourth year of the Secondary Education program at the University of Regina. I am pursuing a major in English and a minor in Biology.

As far as Educational Technology goes, I do not have much experience with it! I have engaged with blogs and Twitter before, but pretty seldom. Additionally, my use of these platforms has been specific to a school assignment, not really in the exploration sense. I use Twitter and LinkedIn as professional platforms and keep my other social media exclusive to personal use. Similarly, with concern to blogging, I have only written and curated blog content for a class. I do, however, find blogs to be helpful and rich resources. Collaboration is at the heart of many schools and learning communities simply because humans were made to interact and share ideas! I do think blogs greatly contribute to those learning spaces while also providing perspective on emotional experiences. Additionally, we get much farther working together than trying to do it all by ourselves. That is why I am excited about this course. I am eager to learn from my fellow classmates, teachers and the greater community through diverse learning experiences and new platforms.

  1. Hello Delaney! Biology is something that I thought about taking for my minor, but the joint program was more for me. You mentioned that you don’t have much experience with educational technology and I am in the same boat. I’ve used the basic Microsoft apps, Kahoot, and blogging in my own schooling. I agree that blogging can be great for collaboration and am looking forward to collaborating with you and other classmates through out this class!
