Hello and bonjour everyone! I'm Dishant and my pronouns are they/he/she. I am a 30yr old teacher from India. I was teaching High-school Chemistry and Math in Mumbai before moving to Regina (Saskatchewan, Canada) in April 2024. I have a Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering, Bachelor's and Master's in Chemistry, and (aim to get a) Master's in Education (Teaching, Learning, and Leadership). I hope to graduate in December 2025 and find a teaching/leadership role at the University level. I have been teaching for the past 7 years and currently, I am (freelance) tutoring for Chemistry, Math, GMAT, and GRE. I started learning French in 2023 and plan to soon include it in the list of subjects I can teach, although my ultimate goal is to learn enough so that I can visit Quebec and Paris. In my leisure time, I sing, write poetry, and listen to music. I am a huge fan of Taylor Swift and hope to learn from her business acumen. This blog is the key to my Professional Learning Network and will help me develop skills to have my own Online teaching platform someday. Looking forward to learning from and with you all!

Sur, sous, ou au-dessus? Lessons from Sticky Notes Gone Wild!

Last week, I was living La vie en rose—learning French through songs, Duolingo, and a touch of Taylor Swift chaos. This week, pedal-to-the-metal, Taylor Swift chaos hit full throttle as her new album The Life of a Showgirl dropped. It’s honestly wild that our resident tortured poet shifted gears to delivering pure summer-drive bops. And apparently, I’ve picked up her habit of using way too many car metaphors and imagery. I call it my august era (remember when I pulled…

La vie en rose

La vie en rose

Before I dive into my second update, let me first translate that title. Let’s start with this song I first heard while watching Emily in Paris. I’ve been listening to Edith Piaf’s La vie en rose this week, and the title itself became a mini French lesson for me. Literally, la vie en rose translates as “life in pink”—though in English we’d say “life through rose-colored glasses.” Here’s the breakdown: la = the (feminine form) vie = life en =…

📵 Phones Out of Sight, Minds Back in Class? — Reflecting on Saskatchewan’s Cell-Phone Rules

📵 Phones Out of Sight, Minds Back in Class? — Reflecting on Saskatchewan’s Cell-Phone Rules

Big (and important) news! Read all about it! At the start of the 2024–25 school year Saskatchewan introduced new rules restricting cell-phone use during class time across K–12 schools. Quick sketch of the policy The Saskatchewan Government’s website released this news on August 6, 2024. TL;DR? Saskatchewan’s measure asked that cell phones be silenced and kept out of sight during instructional time, with exceptions for medical or special-needs accommodations and for teacher-directed instruction. School divisions are expected to draft local…

Bonjour, French Learning Project!

Bonjour, French Learning Project!

I am a proud multilingual learner and educator (and I also hate to admit that ironically, my own native tongue Sindhi is the one I use the least as it is such a minority language). French is the fifth language I want to achieve fluency in. So here’s the big plan: for my major learning project, I’m going all in on my French journey. I actually started Duolingo’s French course back in 2023, and I’ve made it to an intermediate…

Social Media and Me

Social Media and Me

Social media and I have always had, well, a complicated relationship. Thanks to the Wi-Fi in my college dorms, I first got internet access in 2013 at the age of 18 (that’s a long story for another time🥲). I didn’t waste a moment and created my Facebook and Instagram accounts right away. I started leaving my digital footprint on Facebook, doing all the silly things a teenager would 😉while only using Insta for lurking. Fun fact: I started using LinkedIn…

It’s me, Hi! 🎶

Hello and bonjour! 👋 I’m Dishant and my pronouns are they/he/she. I’m a 30-year-old educator originally from India.
