Keys To Happiness

This week I decided to focus on learning two more chords on the piano and was successful. Now that I have learned these two new chords, I am able to complete the first verse of the song. All I need to play this first verse is to repeat what I have learned on the piano again, which includes playing those 4 chords in the correct order.

I watched a video by ‘The Piano Path’, and used some cool tips and tricks to help me with my piano progress. I felt that this video is also a great warmup for loosening up your fingers and being ready to play the piano. It was important for me to keep in mind that warming up your hands on the piano before you get into playing a song can make a significant difference when playing the piece.

Learning the first verse of the song made me feel proud and accomplished.

Wish me luck on my piano journey!

Elyse, I applaud you for learning an instrument! It is definitely not an easy task to learn the piano and you seem to play it well! As soon as I watched your week 3 video I could tell what song you were starting to play immediately, it sounded so great!

I like that you are focussing on doing hand warm ups, it is definitely not something most people would think about doing but it makes a lot of sense!

Excited to see you continue to progress!

    Hello Elyse!

Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s so much fun learning to play a new instrument!! I am wondering if you will also be learning to read music or just by ear? There are quite a few neat apps that help with learning piano! I am also wondering what song you are learning? I tried learning some Mozart songs years ago and had so much fun doing it! Looking forward to hearing more about your learning journey!

Hello Robin! I am using a piano tutorial video on YouTube to help me learn the song (I referenced it in my first post). The song I am playing is called ‘Vampire’ by Olivia Rodrigo. Mozart is a great composer and it is so cool to hear that you played some of his piano songs! Thank you for your supportive words!

    Hi Elyse
Learning to play the piano will be a fun ride. I have a piano at my mothers house and It is a lot harder than it looks, I’m terrible at it. I’m glad to see that the learning so far has been productive. Maybe I’ll use the source you have provided to the class to help me out if I ever feel the urge to learn piano.

Hi Elyse! Piano is such a great learning project! I played piano for quite a few years when I was in high school and I loved it. It’s a really fun skill to use to destress and just chill out at the end of the day. I wish I would have kept up with it or had a piano at my house to use still!
Good luck with the rest of your learning journey!

Hi, Elyse this sounds so good. I’m glad to see you are having success and finding your “keys to happiness.” It’s very impressive how you were able to learn this so quickly. I look forward to seeing and hearing more of the song in the future.
