Week 1 Of My Learning Project Journey

My interest in piano started when I was a year and a half old. Growing up, I was raised in a musically talented family. The photo is of me at eighteen months old, attempting to play the piano at my grandparents farm in McTaggart, Saskatchewan. Music means a lot to me and puts me in a happy place. I did not pursue piano as much as I wanted to, but I still dabble on the piano and learn a new song whenever I am able to.

For this learning project, I am planning on learning the song ‘Vampire’ by Olivia Rodrigo, to perform on the piano. This may be a challenge but I am willing to take this on in order to grow my piano skills. To learn this song, I am going to refer to a YouTube tutorial video, that focuses on playing the song ‘Vampire’ by Olivia Rodrigo.

For this project I will learn 1-3 chords each week and possibly add my own singing at the very end, once the piano chords are completed.

This week I sat down at the piano and learned 2 chords of the song. I found it somewhat challenging since I have not played the piano in a while. I also found it exciting since this is the beginning of learning one of my favourite songs on the piano!

Wish me luck on this exciting learning journey!

All About Me

Hello! My name is Elyse Woodard and I am a student at the University of Regina in the PreK-5 Education Program. I was born and raised in Regina. I enjoy walking my dog, singing and swimming. My family of four consists of my mom, dad, younger brother and I. We also have some pets in our family which includes our dog and a cat.

My name, Elyse, has a unique significance. My name was inspired by a passage from the film “Gladiator,” according to my parents. Elysium is a term that means “a little piece of heaven.”

My experiences with educational technology stem from my elementary and high school years. During those years, I learned how to use google slides, prezi, canva, google sites, imovie and google docs to help me with my presentations, assignments and more.

I have mainly blogged through URCourses for education classes. I am determined to learn more blogging techniques through edusites.

I am eager to learn new topics/concepts which I can apply to both my career and personal life!
