Before anything it is critical and absolutely crucial that we take the time to acknowledge that I live on treaty land, in specific I wish to acknowledge the Treaty 4 territory and the City of Regina and all who reside here are beneficiaries of this treaty. Treaty 4 acknowledges and expresses the understanding that these are the lands of Dakota, Cree, Saulteaux (SO-TOE), Lakota, Nakota and the homeland of the Metis Nation. I respect and honour the treaties that were made on all of this homeland for many Indigenous people. I continuously strive to acknowledge the heartbreaking mistakes and intergenerational trauma of the past, and I am committed to move forward in partnership with Indigenous Nations in the spirit of my own personal understanding, collaboration and reconciliation.
