Why do I want to Teach?
When asked “what are my goals when teaching?”
My aim for teaching would be to do my best to help and support my students, in any way I can. In other words meeting the student where they are at in the learner, no matter if they are below grade level. Doing my part to help them learn and improve their understanding. I will take the time to teach in unique ways such as hands on learning, touch and feel experiential, play based learning and use the outdoors.
Another one of my major focuses is helping my students grow and develop into stronger students but better people too. We as teachers need to take the time to teach students how to be kind and respectful to others because that is a life skill. A life skill that goes far beyond finding the area of a star. Life skills can be added to any topic in any lesson.
Not lastly, but lastly for the sake of this paper is “I want kids to smile and I want kids to come home from their day at school, be smiling, looking forward to the next day.” Smiles go a long way.
When asked: “what do you hope to accomplish when you teach?”
There are 3 simple easy answers:
- I want my students to smile, when they are learning. I want them to enjoy themselves and not dread a specific subject. Nothing is worse than doing an activity in one subject area and then moving to the next and having all of your students dread it.
- I want my students to understand that they are perfect the way they are. They always have and always will be. They don’t have to be the smartest, most athletic or the most artistic, they just have to be themselves and that is more than enough…its fantastic!
- I want my students to embrace their uniqueness. I want them to be proud of what makes them unique. I want them to passionate about their uniqueness.
Most important question to ask a new learning teacher is “why am I a teacher?”
- I am a teacher because I want to be there for my students.
