About Me

Who Am I?

Hi! My name is Emma Sharp and my pronouns are she/her. I am currently in the Secondary Education program at the University of Regina. I am majoring in Physical Education and minoring in Inclusive Education.

I was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. I grew up with my younger brother and we were raised by our mom and dad. My parents are some of the biggest role models in my life, especially my mom. My mom has always told me to follow my dreams and do something I am passionate about. I have always been passionate about helping others and knew that I wanted to pursue a career that did that. It wasn’t until halfway through high school though that I realized I wanted to become a teacher. Having first-hand experience of how hard being a high school student can be and seeing how much some of my teachers affected my life, I knew then and there this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Growing up, I was a very active child and was always on some sort of team, whether it be dance, soccer, track & field, basketball, volleyball, football, or rugby. Being active is also one of my passions in life and something that I absolutely love. Being so active was one of the influences for wanting to become a physical education teacher.

I have been involved in many volunteer opportunities working with children. A couple of my favourite opportunities have been working with children to help better their mental health and teaching children how to play rugby. I was involved in the MHCB (Mental Health Capacity Building) program at Dr. Martin Leboldus. I worked one summer with children ages five to eleven and new high school students helping teach different aspects involving mental health. I was also given the opportunity to teach kids how to play rugby, which is one of my passions.
