Autobiographical Paper Quotes:
I have taken some of the quotes from my autobiographical paper that I felt highlighted my journey towards wanting to become an educator.
“Becoming a teacher meant that I could still fulfill my goal of helping others.”
“I want to work in a setting where I am helping teenagers prepare for their futures during a very hectic time in their lives.”
“My goals when I become a teacher are simple. First, to be a safe and open space for everyone. Second, to be an advocate for mental health and help as many people as I can. Third, to be successful and do something I love. To me it doesn’t matter where I am working as long as I am helping teenagers grow physically and mentally, that is all that matters to me.”
Journey Towards Education:
My aesthetic representation is a work collage. I took the main idea of reconciliation and chose different words or actions that I feel are important to its history. I added words/ideas that pertained to a school/classroom setting such as; residential schools, learning, diversity, education, equal opportunity, and community (just to name a few). Through my journey I have learnt a lot about how the education system has failed students in the past by not giving indigenous students an equal or proper education because they were different. One item that i did put in my word collage was “Orange Shirt Day”. Orange Shirt Day is only something that has been introduced in schools over the past few years. After completing my journey towards reconciliation project, I see the importance of celebrating diversity and culture among the student population as best as we can with the information we are provided.
