My Life and Interests
School
- I attended elementary school at St. Angela Merici (2008-2017)
- I attended high school at Michael A. Riffel (2017-2021)
- I am currently attending the University of Regina, pursuing my Bachelor of Education. I am focusing on secondary education, with a major in social studies and a minor in visual art education.
Family
I was born and grew up in Regina Saskatchewan with my loving family. Without them, I would not be where I am today. They have always been my biggest supporters in all I do and were the ones who encouraged me to pursue my teaching dream.
My younger sister (pictured on the left) is probably the person I am closest to in my life. Though we have an age gap of 6 years, we are practically best friends, and her bubbly personality never fails to cheer me up. Although we do not get along 24/7, I don’t know what I would do without her!
Friends
My friends have always had such a big role in my life. I have been very lucky to grow up with such a kind and supportive group of girls by my side, many of which I have known for over 10 years. They have been there through all the ups and downs and I could never begin to express my endless gratitude for them. Moreover, they are all incredibly intelligent and hardworking. So, being surrounded by these bright-minds has further instilled in me to do my best in all I can. I will forever cherish these relationships and hope for nothing but years of success in their futures.
Dance
Growing up, dance was a very influential part of my life. I have taken lessons for over 15 years and continue to take them today. When I was 3 years old, I remember walking by a ballet class every Saturday morning with my parents to get to a different class I was signed up for. I could see the dancers through the windows and was absolutely mesmerized by them. From there on, I wanted to be “just like those ballet dancers when I grew up.” So, my mom signed me up for lessons, and to this day, I am still very passionate about ballet. It remains my favourite style of dance. It is such an incredibly challenging sport, and yet the best ballet dancers are somehow able to make it seem entirely painless, flawless, and easy. I have been to a few ballet company performances over the past few years (my favourite being the American Ballet Theatre’s Giselle performance) which have both left me in awe and inspired me to continue. I also really enjoy contemporary dance and the expressive freedom it allows. This style has really allowed me to connect with my emotions and deal with them out in a positive way. Overall, dance has been a major outlet for me and I will forever cherish the life skills I learned from it and the relationships I have made it.
Travel ✈
I have always had a passion and interest for travelling as I love exposing myself to diverse environments, cultures, and ways of living. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had to step out of my own home and experience things out of my comfort zone. Although I have only journeyed throughout North America so far, I am saving to venture to other continents. Particularly, backpacking across Europe is at the top of my bucket list. A friend and I were looking into taking a semester abroad in Germany, but so far, we are yet to make it happen. Additionally, as a social studies major, I find interest in visiting different regions, learning about their histories, and experiencing their customs. I believe travelling allows one to broaden their understanding of the world and learn about other places from an engaging hands-on perspective, which is super neat! I hope to pass on what I learn to my future students!

One of my other passions is visual art. I have always loved drawing because I find it empowering to be able to put concepts from my mind on paper; allowing me to out bring my ideas to life in a sense. I also find drawing to be a stress reliever. After a hard day, I may sit down, play some music or listen to a podcast, and just draw whatever I am feeling. Drawing is often my outlet and I find it very therapeutic. Furthermore, the best thing about creating art is that there are no limitations as to what is “right” or “wrong.” Art is meant to be diverse and unique. Moreover, everyone has their own artistic style and thus, I believe each person is capable of creating art. I do not believe there is such thing as a “bad artist.” As a visual art minor, my dream is to one day teach an art class so I can help each student discover their own artistic capacities, and the expressive properties art offers.
The above images are some of my favourite pieces from my AP art portfolio that I submitted to the College Board in grade 12. My medium was conte. The concentration explored how my bizarre, encrypted dreams connect to my inner emotions/outlooks, and how I interpreted them through colour, rendering, and composition. I have always had oddly vivid dreams, and I keep a dream journal where I write down the dreams that particularly strike or bother me. So, for my concentration I thought it would be neat to draw and interpret meaning from my recorded dreams. In the process, I did a lot of self discovery and learned much about my own subconscious fears. These pieces, though many whimsical in appearance, represent some of my deepest truths and how I cope with them. I am quite proud of the end product and view this portfolio as a large accomplishment. I also scored a 5 on it!
