I Believe Statements

I Believe Statements

The below statements aim to represent my educational philosophies and beliefs that I plan to implement as a future educator. The list will continue to grow as I develop and discover more beliefs.

I Believe…

..student leadership allows students to take initiative in their education and learning process

..hands on learning is crucial and allows students to apply their knowledge

..classrooms should value inclusivity, equity, and diversity

..a classroom should be a safe space for students to be able to share and learn

..it is important to recognize/acknowledge student mental health and wellness

..teachers should provide diverse reading materials, videos, and lessons that represent a variety of minoritized groups

..it is important not only to learn student’s names, but also student’s pronouns

..teachers should incorporate reconciliation and Indigenous material in lessons

..we loan this land and must acknowledge that

..teachers have the power to shape student’s minds, this comes with great responsibility

..we never stop learning

..there is no such thing as a “lazy” student (further explained in my focus questions)

..teachers should teach proactively (leading students to succeed) rather than reactively (expecting students to fail)
