Barn Yard

This week I wanted to focus on putting all of my skills I have practices to the test! I wanted to stick to a theme within my final batch of decorating and the theme I choose is barn yard animals. Growing up on a farm I thought this would be the perfect thing to try and make. I found cookies that I wanted to re-create. The cookies that I found were on Pinterest. I was very skeptical when starting them, I did not think that I would be able to create something so cute. However, I am actually quite happy with the looks of the cookies.

Overall, I believed I have learned a new skill. I would not say I have mastered it bur I feel like I have made some great progress within decorating the cookies!

The technique that I had used the most with decorating my final batch of cookies is the dry on wet technique. This was used in every cookie that I completed for this set. This is a skill that I will continue to work on and improve my skills!

The challenges that I had faced with these cookies came with the steady hards. Like I had mentioned in previous posts I have very shaky hands. All of these cookies I needed a steady for at least some part of the cookie! The sheep needed the curly lines added on top which was something that was challenging for me as they were all so close together. The ears on all the animals was another thing that I struggled with. I tried very hard to keep them all symmetrical but I tried very hard and I feel like they turned out quite well.

A theme was a super cute idea!

Totally get it with the shaky hands point. I have the same issue with my CP. One of the biggest things I find that helps my hands to stop shaking is just to spot them— resting my elbow on a flat surface for support. That’s what I did when I was using piping bags for my own project. Or a few deep breathes just to really focus– that usually works for about five minutes lol. I’m glad you were able to navigate and accommodate the challenge! Everything looks awesome!

Great job, love to see it!
