Path
This is a sidewalk in my community. I walk down this sometimes to get through my thoughts and endure the difficulties in my life. As I walk, I notice how peaceful it seems. There are not many cars and birds are chirping.
Sit Spot
I feel the cold air breeze and wind on my face. There are animals playing in the bushes, and there are dogs barking around. I feel myself resonate with thankfulness while I sit beside the memorial, which is of World War I and II. I sense belonging and an environment that is down to earth. It is not like downtown Regina where there is nothing but buildings. I could feel the grass and hear the squirrels jumping between trees. I can see the neglect of the buildings and the damage done over time. I feel sad because of the damage done to a church, which is now a heritage spot. I see a lot of diversity in nature and humanity, which helps me reflect on my decisions, realizing all sides of a solution. It reveals the positive and negative impacts of decisions I can make.
My mind is drawn to the World War memorial and the Canadian flag by me, most likely because most of my family was in the military. My spirit is drawn to the church behind me. My body is drawn to the trees as I can explore them forever. My body is drawn to the benches after a long walk.
Over the weekend, I was in Treaty 6 for a couple of hours. It was beautiful and new, but strange. I didn’t feel at home. I find it strange that once I left Treaty 4, I felt odd. Maybe, I feel that Treaty 4 is my home.
Emotional Mapping
I feel a sense of pride and hope. I can see that all the land isn’t all gone, but there is the construction of businesses happening. It makes me sad Canada is losing its important land which brings in tourists. I feel the warmth from the sun. I am drawn to the trees that are dying. Almost like there is something wrong. I hear the rumble of cars, which is sad due to the gas emissions. I can see the deterioration of the world and how humans have been misusing their power. I never notice much by the road because I always look forward and down. Once I see my surrounding, it shows how disconnected I have become from the true nature of the world.
Different Perspective
I noticed the different colours in trees as the seasons change. I notice how there are hedges that are large that block out the public from people’s lawns, but there are also open lawns. I noticed I never got to know the people in my town with these properties. I was drawn to the structures built and the artificial placement of rocks. It reminds me of how we have changed the world how we want, and there is no way to replicate the environment that has naturally been made. From a different perspective, the trees seem linear and artificial. It lines up with other built structures, which shows the power of humans who can destroy yet build.
