About Me

Hello, My name is Faith Haberstock. I grew up and live in Treaty Four territory as a part of Estevan, Saskatchewan. There are a lot of empty grassy areas around where I live, including a nice walking path behind my house. I usually walk this path daily, at least twice when walking my dog. The path has a vast diversity of trees and plants to make the area look nicer. The school I grew up attending was located on a ridge and was home to many spruce trees. We would go sledding on the hills of the ridge surrounding the school in the winter as they were a part of the schoolyard. My house is also very close to the hockey rink and rodeo grounds, where our local fair usually takes place, and other significant events. Estevan itself is not a very inclusive area when it comes to housing First Nations or Metis people. While I know a few specific families in the area, they are not a massive part of the city’s recognized history. One of the most significant issues I find with Estevan is its natural eco-footprint. One of the things Estevan is most known for is our two coal power plants which result in Estevan being one of the most air-polluted places in Saskatchewan.
