Will I ever learn to finally do a muscle-up? Follow the journey

For the past nine months, since I began to work out, I have been dreaming to be able to do a muscle-up. I have always seen other people successfully do it and had always thought it was easy as long as you work out. However, I can tell you that’s not the case. I have been probably attempting a muscle up every other day since I began to see progress in my body, but yet to really see progress in my muscle-ups and stuck doing only pull-ups.

When I first heard about this assignment, the first thing that came to mind was of course learning to do a muscle-up. I had always been someone who pushes himself and strives off competition. Just weeks before our first class, my friend found out he was able to do muscle-ups, and of course, that made me want to learn it even more. I had the common misconception that it was all about strength, but I found out that technique and training to do a muscle-up is equally as important. Muscle-ups also have many benefits and are a common workout in strength training. They are a more complex version of pull-ups with many of the same benefits and more. Some benefits include, arm strength, core development, back muscles more benefits found online.

In order to learn to do such a difficult skill in such a short time, I have come up with a plan to train myself each week using articles and videos on youtube. Before training myself with different exercises each week, I am going to look into the proper techniques of performing a muscle-up. This by itself will take time and practice. In addition, I will be adding exercise to my daily routines which I come to find online that help to perform a muscle-up. I will be starting with basic experiences due to being in the beginning stages of performing a muscle-up.

Enjoy a good laugh at my first attempt!
