Maple Soy Salmon Bowl

Maple Soy Salmon Bowl

This Sunday, my wife and I did something we should do more often—we actually planned our dinner meals for the week. We scrolled through our shared Instagram folder, appropriately titled “Let’s Eat”, and picked out what we wanted. Monday’s pick? A Maple Soy Salmon Bowl.

This meal was quick, easy, and delicious! It used simple ingredients but felt filling and fresh. Plus, we didn’t have to buy much since we already had most of the ingredients on hand.

The Breakdown

All I had to do was:
Cook some rice
Air fry the salmon
Chop a cucumber and an avocado
Warm up some edamame beans
Drizzle on a maple soy sriracha sauce

That’s it! No complicated steps, no long prep time—just a solid, satisfying meal. As well, it was just the right amount of food for the two of us.

Cost Breakdown

We grabbed a few fresh ingredients from Superstore:

  • Avocado – $1.99
  •  Cucumber – $2.49
  • Salmon – $11.39
  • Edamame – $6.99

Total: $22.86

Not bad for a healthy, homemade meal that saved us from the dreaded “what do you want for supper?” debate. Honestly, having the meal planned ahead of time was a huge time saver. Instead of staring blankly into the fridge, we knew exactly what to do—and in less than 30 minutes, supper was ready.

Would we make it again? Absolutely. This one’s staying in the meal rotation for sure!

  1. What a smart topic to choose for this project!! Learn something new, work on your project AND create delicious healthy meals with your wife…sounds amazing!
I love that you are planning new meals that are delicious and considering how to do it at a reasonable price. That is not easy these days. And that salad looks like something you could order at a restaurant.
I might have to go back and save all your recipes!!!

    1. Thanks for your response Jennifer! I was torn between a few things for this project but I am definitely happy with the one I chose because I am living a healthier lifestyle, eating healthier and spending time with my wife in a new and different way! You should for sure check out the links I’ve attached for all the meals! So far I am quite happy with everything we have cooked up!

  2. This looks amazing for all the right reasons. Thank you for sharing! I will also try this at home. I wasn’t really much of an instagram user, but it is great for inspiration!

  3. What a great meal choice-I love a good salmon bowl! What a great time to have this as a goal; recipes are so accessible, and groceries are easier to get than ever before. Cost definitely is an issue though, especially if you’re wanting to eat healthy- I hate how that works. My husband and I do the same thing, send recipes back and forth on Instagram daily- then we get to sample new recipes. 🙂
    Thanks for sharing!
