Hello! My name is Grace, and I am currently in my third year of elementary education at the University of Regina. I have many different passions that I have developed throughout my life and teaching has to be my favourite one. I realized I love teaching as much as I did when I started teaching piano. I have been a piano teacher for over 3 years at the Long & McQuade lesson centre located in Regina. At my studio I have the privilege of teaching a variety of different ages and skill levels. My favourite part of teaching piano is listening to all the different stories my students tell me, its like I get to be apart of them! My passion of music started at the age of 8 after joining the Royal Conservatory of Music in choir and piano. Although, music has always been apart of my life as me and my three sisters have always been making music since we all could walk and talk. My sisters and I are all very close to each other, a large reason for that is because we are all born in the same week in August. A special tradition that we celebrate is creating are own birthday cakes each year. By the end of the birthday week we are all stuffed from cake!
I am originally from a small town named Vibank, which is located 45 minutes east of Regina. Vibank has taught me many different values the biggest being community and family. Vibank is home to 300 people meaning that everyone knows everyone. Within this community we had many different projects that the whole community would come together to create. For example, when renovating our school the community redid the whole outside landscape. This taught me a lot about the importance of working together and helping each other.
The experience I have with educational technology I believe is pretty advanced in comparison to other schools. This is due to the Prairie Valley School Divisions focus on educational technology and my school being completely renovated in my elementary education. For these reasons I was exposed to technology at a young age for projects and most of our classes were designed with brand new smart boards. Having access to new technology is one for the reasons I feel somewhat comfortable with it as an adult. As a young student I had access to programs such as Mathletics, Razkids, kahoot, etc.
Blogging is a new experience for me as I have never done it before. The closest experience I have to blogging is forum posts that were required in different university courses I have taken. I am still unsure how I feel about blogging as it is something that is completley different than what is expected of us in university. As a university student the expectation most proffesors have is that all assignments have to be APA cited and academically written. I am excited now that I get to write my thoughts and write what I am passionated about. I am also excited I get to read my peers blogs and see what they are passionated about!

Hello Grace!
I loved reading about your sisters and I think it is so cool that you guys share the same birthday week. I know that if I was born the same week as my brothers I would not be so happy, especially when I was younger so props to you!! I definitely agree that being exposed to technology when we were younger helps us feel more comfortable with it now because I am the same way. I never really put 2 and 2 together that using technology when were younger would make us feel more comfortable with it.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Grace,
I love that you play and teach the piano. I used to play when I was in elementary and high school, this is definitely a hobby I wish I stuck with. I also have three sister and grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone! That’s kinda wild you guys are all born in the same week, I can only imagine that a house full of girl got a little crazy at times? I say that with experience haha.
I can connect with you when it comes to blogging. This class is the first time actually creating my own blog and putting it to use. It makes me a bit nervous, but I know we will al learn so many great new way to interact amongst each other with the use of technology.
Thank for sharing Grace!
Talk soon, Mackenzie
