The tech tool that I have chosen to review is classdojo. I am a little unsure if this is considered a tech tool but I love it. If you have ever heard about class dojo before it is actually a super cool tool that has a variety of different resources for teachers and students. Class dojo is a behaviour and communication tool that is used by teachers, parents, and students. The key feature of this website is the quick and easy accessibility for behaviour tracking. What I mean by this is teachers have the ability to give “points” to students for good behaviour.
The first thing you will have to do is create your own class. A tip I would give is watch the introductory videos and tutorials first before going further. The great thing about this program is you can create each student with there own avatar and attach their families directly to the website.
With this invitation families can see the points their child is achieving and why they might be loosing points. They are also attached to school notifications like events, spirit days, and class messages. Parents also have the opportunity to send messages directly to the teacher regarding concerns, appointments, or any topic they desire.
After creating your class, you are able to give feedback to each student with points. The advantage with this program is you can create the type of feedback you want based on your classroom values or behaviour goals. An example would be “helping others= +1” or “on task= +1”. You can also do the opposite with negative behaviour, and get rid of points. An example of this could be “off task= -1”. This program also has different tools such as group generator, timers, attendance, music, etc.
Overall, this resource is incredible. I would definitely use it in my day to day classroom. It is also a way for students to understand their classroom identity and recognize they are apart of a team. I believe this program reaches the modification level in the SAMR model as it reaches a large audience, its interactive, and students are engaged within the practice. The way I would advance this tech tool, is having more student engagement on a day to day basis.
If you ever have the chance to try class dojo I highly would recommend. Can’t wait to catch you on my next post!

Hi Grace, this week I also chose to explore ClassDojo! This goes to show how not technology advanced I am lol. I did not see the group generators or other features you had explored. I’m glad you shared your take as it helped me learn more about something I already explored.
