Contribution to the learning of others

Reflecting on this semester, I began this journey with little to no knowledge about educational technology. Although as time progressed, zoom calls were had, and lots of blog posts later I can say that my confidence has grown. When comparing my first blog post to my last blog post, I am happy to see the growth that I have made and the confidence I have gained. Where has this confidence came from… I would like to say the exchange of knowledge between myself and my peers. If you would like to see the growth of my blog posts here is my journey! Week 1: Introducing my Learning Project  Week 2:…

    The Final Stitch…

Well, I guess this is the end, everyone… the final post for my learning project. Looking back, this experience has truly been a roller coaster — filled with exciting highs, frustrating lows, and everything in between. When I first began, my goal wasn’t just to learn a new skill — it was to reconnect with a memory of crocheting with my grandmother. And now, as I finish this project, I can confidently say: I think I made her proud. The Start of Something Special The beginning was, to be honest, a little rocky. I had to rebuild my confidence with a craft I hadn’t touched in years. Holding the yarn…

    Animated Drawings

I LOVED THIS!!!! I think it is so awesome getting to experiment with different tools online, AI being a big one. For this blog I experimented with animated drawings and let me tell you this definitely up my alley. To take you through how it works is it starts with having you create a character on a piece of paper. This character can look however you want it! You can make it have green big hair, big large shoulders, short little legs. The sky is the limit! Personally, I took this to my advantage and created I would like to think a cool little radio nerd. As you can see…

    Coding is NOT for me.

Hello everyone! Im glad you’re back to listen to my blog this week. Todays blog I am going to be talking about coding. I would like to preface this blog with saying I have a love, hate relationship with coding. In one of my other classes I am taking this spring I also had a coding project that I had to do. This project involved a coding circuit board and coding program…without saying too much I am completely frustrated with the assignment, professor and materials. But I decided for this experiment I wouldn’t let my biases of coding affect the outcome of this assignment. I chose to do one of…

Can AI help with my hobbies?

For the direction of this project post, I decided to take a less traditional route. Specifically, I chose to use an online resource that most people wouldn’t think to turn to when crocheting: AI. As we’ve discussed in class, AI is an emerging technology that’s beginning to challenge how society views creativity and technology. While AI is undeniably a powerful tool, it lacks a human touch — it doesn’t have a unique personality or the freedom of thought that people do. Because of that, I was initially unsure how helpful it could be in a creative process like making a granny square blanket. I chose to use ChatGPT as my…

    Stitching my Granny Squares together!

It’s getting closer and closer to the end of this learning project. Which has me thinking what do I want to have finished for my final project post. So for my final project I would like to make a mini baby blanket! The good news is that I do already have the start of the foundation finished by creating a couple granny squares. The next step is to learn how to crochet the granny squares together which is what I will be talking about today. I chose to use a YouTube video as I have learnt that this platform is the easiest platform to learn from. The video I chose…

Am I turning into a Granny?

So I think I am officially a granny. Or at least I have started the process lol. I say this because I have finally created a granny square. I think I underestimated the granny’s because this wasn’t the easiest project. The online source that I have chosen for this learning project post is a YouTube video by Maddy Marie. The thing that enticed me to choose this video was the title ” How to Crochet a Granny Square for Beginners *updated tutorial*”. My thought process when seeing the words ‘updated tutorial’ was that it would be a new and easier version of a granny square. Now since I don’t know…

    A Teachers Digital Footprint

When it comes to discussing digital identity, I see my digital footprint from a whole new perspective. Now, more than ever, as a future educator I am so conscious of how my actions or media I share could affect my future, hence why this blog post feels personal to me. I think as a teenager I didn’t realize that what I was posting online could be seen by the world and images like drinking or partying wouldn’t be seen as “cool” the more I mature. I do still have a soft spot for these pictures as I still see them as memories formed by friendships but I am aware of…

I conquered the Cheeky Magic circle

I just wanna say that I am very proud of myself for this learning project post. As some of you may know in my last blog I was having some trouble crocheting my magic circle. I finally had achieved creating the magic circle but didn’t know how to crochet any further. For this post, I found a YouTube video that explained How to Increase on the Magic Circle for beginners by Libby. In this video, she explains the stitch pattern that typically is used to increase on the magic circle. She explains that with every round of stitches, the stitch count is going to increase by 6, in order to make…
