Animated Drawings

I LOVED THIS!!!!

I think it is so awesome getting to experiment with different tools online, AI being a big one. For this blog I experimented with animated drawings and let me tell you this definitely up my alley.

To take you through how it works is it starts with having you create a character on a piece of paper. This character can look however you want it! You can make it have green big hair, big large shoulders, short little legs. The sky is the limit! Personally, I took this to my advantage and created I would like to think a cool little radio nerd.

As you can see he has some really cool shades, a boom box in hand, and some really funky looking limbs. I think he’s a pretty cool looking dude, if I say so myself.

The next part of the program asks you to upload your character and then select the different joints of the character you have created. It’s that simple!

And then……… you have your animation!

I would definitely use this tool within my classroom for students to adventure and play around with animation. I think it enhances students learning as they get to be hands on and create their own personalized learning paths as they are choosing what illustrations they are including. It also plays into the students interests and creativity.

It is important as educators to teach about the responsibility of uploading different animations as students uploads might be stored online through the processing network.

This tool would help to support different needs as it requires a more creative pathway rather than academic which allows all different types of learners to participate. It would depend on the project associated with this program but I believe students understanding can be measured by their ability to bring to life a character/object they made.

Overall, I think AI is a helpful tool within the classroom if it helps supports students thinking instead of thinking for them. AI is a tool that can be taken advantage of since it can postulate different thoughts based on a simple prompt. For that reason, it is important to be concious of the role it takes within teaching but that doesn’t mean it needs to be avoided. It is foolish to think that students won’t be exposed to AI in their lifetime, so instead teaching students how to use in a productive way will help how they use it in the future. I also think it is a great tool for teachers, as I think teachers do a lot of extra work creating rubrics, tests, outlines, etc,. AI can be useful to teachers to take off some workload, this being said, not every lesson should be crafted from AI.

Thank you for listening to my blog and I hope you watched my animation!

    Hi Grace,

AI is absolutely wild! I agree, this form of AI will really get students engaged and still have the opportunity to create their own form of drawing and bring it to life. Student still have to use there imagination which is great with this form of AI, because many are concerned d about AI limiting our critical thinking and imagination.

Thanks for diving into this form of AI this week. I will be sure to try this out in my future classroom.

Grace, your drawing animation worked really well. I did a few versions with my kids and they always ended up moving in really awkward ways. I’m glad to see yours worked so well and it inspires me to create more. I actually think I’ll use this app in a summer camp I’m running as an fast finisher or extension activity. Its just so quick, there is room for creativity, and the results are fast and very satisfying! Thanks for sharing

    Hi Grace!

First, your drawing is adorable, what a cool guy. I love all the different shapes and colours you included. I think they made the wacky movements even better. This seems like an easy and super fun tool to use with students! Even a little spooky with how AI literally brings it to life.

    Thanks so much for sharing!

Hey Grace! I completely agree with your point about how this tool supports different types of learners by tapping into creativity rather than just academics. I like that you’re thinking about both the possibilities and the responsibilities that come with using AI in the classroom. I believe your reflection on AI being a supportive tool rather than a replacement for thinking is key in education. Awesome drawing by the way!
