I think the new culture of participation is creating opportunities for students to not only be consumers of media, but also creators. As technology becomes more accessible to younger audiences, students are able to take an active role in their learning rather than being passive listeners. They can create, collaborate, and share their own content with others. In the past, students had to rely on newspapers or television to access information—but that has changed in a positive way. According to the 2022 report Teens, Social Media and Technology, 73% of students have access to a smartphone. This shows just how significantly technology has shaped the younger generation. With this kind…

A New Variation
For this learning project I was inspired by TikTok. Now that I have started my learning project journey of course my TikTok is now flooded with crocheting videos. Which at times is exciting, but can be also annoying. A certain TikTok video did spark some excitement because I rushed to my yarn to try it. In my previous blog I had explained how I had learned how to do a single stitch crochet, this is still true although I thought I would spice it up. I learnt that there a variety of different variations of single stitch crochets and that it doesn’t always have to look one way. In the…

A tech tool I would use!
The tech tool that I have chosen to review is classdojo. I am a little unsure if this is considered a tech tool but I love it. If you have ever heard about class dojo before it is actually a super cool tool that has a variety of different resources for teachers and students. Class dojo is a behaviour and communication tool that is used by teachers, parents, and students. The key feature of this website is the quick and easy accessibility for behaviour tracking. What I mean by this is teachers have the ability to give “points” to students for good behaviour. The first thing you will have…

One Stitch at a time!
The online source that I used for my learning project this week was GoodKnitKisses youtube video. My first impression of this youtube video that it was very inviting and inticing. She begins the video with a jingle to attract your attention followed by a whole bunch of pictures of her knitting. I like that the video gave an outline of what the watcher was going to be learning throughout the video and mentioned that there was going to be various tips and tricks to accompany the video alongside. While watching the video I noticed the various timestamps on the video, this made it easier to navigate if I wanted to…

Swipe, Click, Repeat!
I hate to admit it sometimes but technology consumes a lot of my time. Whether that be doing school work, watching a movie, or just scrolling mindlessly on social media apps, technology is apart of my everyday routine. The first thing I do when I wake up is go on my phone and check my social media apps, those mainly being snapchat and tiktok. These apps plus Netflix are what take up primarly all of my screen time. I like to blame my childhood and it is always being so loud and busy to the reason why there always has to be background sound on whenever I am doing anything.…

Introducing my Learning Project
Hey everyone! I thought I would share with you what I am going to be doing for learning project. This was a pretty difficult decision for me because I am very indecisive person and I love to try new things, which as a combination made it difficult to choose. After a couple conversations with my loved ones I have chose to learn how to crochet. My interest for crocheting actually dates back to when I was a young child and bonding with my grandma over crocheting and quilting. My grandma has a great passion for designing and creating crafts. A distinct memory I have is her bringing her large tub…

Introducing Me!
Hello! My name is Grace, and I am currently in my third year of elementary education at the University of Regina. I have many different passions that I have developed throughout my life and teaching has to be my favourite one. I realized I love teaching as much as I did when I started teaching piano. I have been a piano teacher for over 3 years at the Long & McQuade lesson centre located in Regina. At my studio I have the privilege of teaching a variety of different ages and skill levels. My favourite part of teaching piano is listening to all the different stories my students tell me,…
