Cultural Inclusion Survey
I have good practices and beliefs, I just need to incorporate them more often.

And we’re back after an extra week off! We began this class by checking in on how our break went and how we’re doing on our upcoming assignments for this class. My break wasn’t very restful but I was able to squeeze in some Modern Family. As for our assignments, I do have to add my own thoughts a bit more throughout the Dialogue Paper and I also have a pretty good idea for the expectations of the Assessment Demonstration thanks…
Chapter 9: Communicating About Learning Chapter 10: Evaluating and Reporting Chapter 11: Learning by Ourselves and with Others Group Members: Charlee A., Abigail G., Hailey J., Bridget M., Kari M., Kianna W. This week we talked a lot about student-led conferences and that we liked the idea of having stations to allow students to show their parents what they know. A group member mentioned having an open house at the beginning of the school year so the students can get…
We began this class with our last Learning Circle discussion based on our class textbook, where we spent a lot of time talking about communicating with parents and connecting with colleagues about assessment. The link to our full discussion is here. Afterwards we did our usual poll.guru reflection. Next we discussed graphic organizers, which can be used for any class and grade. There were a myriad of graphic organizers mentioned in the video, but the ones I was most familiar…
As I get closer to teaching, both my internship and my own classroom, I only seem to have more and more questions about assessment. Assessment is not a topic that I have learned much about in university classes so far, so interviewing two teachers for my ECS 401 class proved to be very valuable and insightful. Throughout the paper, I will mention Ms. M and Mrs. G., who I interviewed for this assignment. Ms. M was my art teacher from…
We started class with our Learning Circle discussions (found here) where we talked about being aware of when we give feedback and how portfolios can be very useful. We then followed up with the usual poll.guru after heading back to the whole group. Next, we discussed our Assessment Plan Showcase assignment and watched a previous student’s video he made for this assignment. After viewing this example I feel much more confident in completing this assignment for this class. After a…
Chapter 7: Using Assessment to Guide Instruction Chapter 8: Collecting, Organizing, and Presenting Evidence Group Members: Charlee A., Abigail G., Hailey J., Bridget M., Kari M., Kianna W. For our chapter seven discussion, we first discussed the importance of asking for help, whether you’re the student or the teacher. Acknowledging when you’re wrong or when you don’t know something allows for learning opportunities. Someone brought up the example that their math teacher would write something wrong and then change it…
We began this class by finishing our rubric activity we started yesterday. In breakout rooms, we had to brainstorm responses that a fifth grade student would have said about our geometry question. Then we had to organize those responses into three categories: math terms, descriptions, and measurements. The third step had us creating the “adequate” column of a rubric and rated the sample answer to our rubric. This step left me very confused because the criteria was from various outcomes,…
Chapter 5: Evidence of Learning Chapter 6: Involving Students in a Classroom Assessment Group Members: Charlee A., Abigail G., Hailey J., Bridget M., Kari M., Kianna W. In chapter five, one of the great things we noticed was that there was a huge list on page 47 that provides many ways you can assess through observation, since in many of our experiences assessment was primarily made through products. Some examples in the list include: drama presentations, predicting, conflict resolution, storytelling,…
